Default .gpx help (guitar pro 6)

so i'm kind of in a bind right now.. i'm trying to audition for a band. they are sending me all the material in .gpx (guitar pro 6 files) and i can't open the files. i have guitar pro 5 and tuxguitar, but neither can open the new file type. i asked if they could just save they files as .gp5. they said no, they'd have to re-tab it in gp5. i don't know if that's true or not. so my question is, can anyone help me view these files? or convert them to .gp5 for me? i don't have the extra money to upgrade, plus i never use the program anyway. any help much appreciated!

    thanks,

    bkh

GP6 doesn't seem to have an option to save or export .gpx files directly to .gp5 :-(

could you get them to export it as a midi file then import that in to gp5?

That actually seems like a good idea.

Or maybe they can export it to MIDI (or any of the other formats that Guitar Pro 5/6 can both import and export) and then you import the MIDI file into GP5?

    Tuxguitar can't read GP6 files...
Just rename the GP6 to GP3 and it'll work....I always use this method if tuxguitar has file opening issues…

    it's worth a try I guess....

no you can't rename the .gpx.. i've tried it didn't work. i'm gonna use the screen shot idea peterucci suggested. only problem is i won't have audio for the drums or certain time sigs might be a little more difficult to learn from tab. i'd prefer to use my ear. thanks for the suggestions.

Hey, send me the files. I got GP6 yesterday, havent had a chance to install or do anything with it until now, so maybe I can convert them to an older version or export the midi, and load that back into GP5.
