I never understood the "post a video of you covering the song" with the actual song playing, and the guitar volume somewhere near the regular mix volume, etc... There are a lot of YouTube videos like this, where the player is nowhere NEAR as tight as the recording, and you can't tell other than little spots here and there, because you are barely hearing him play.

This guy "seems" to have nailed it, and I suspect he can hit it balls on for real... but it's not all that interesting to watch, since I feel like I'm hearing the original tune... like... I'll just listen to Meshuggah, as opposed to Meshuggah with an extra layer of barely audible guitar.

Still, that's a lot of hard work and repetition on the picking hand, and it looks like he's got it down.

In general I agree. He's high enough up in the mix that you can hear him clearly (at least in my opinion), especially when he starts to break down a little before the solo break. The lead is definitely audible.

But yeah, I'd have preferred it if it was him and ez drummer

He did a good job, but I see Tendinitis in his future if he doesn't learn how to relax his picking 'arm'.

It's a good way to disguise mistakes. I've seen alot of videos that the viewers seem to have thought that the guitarist did a great job, when infact that has been far from the truth.

When you hear the original recording more you should become suspicous..

This guy seem to do it right though, but since I havent heard the original i dont really know..

i totally agree... playing over the original is,in my opinion, a great camouflage... i'm not saying michael didn't do a great job...i would love to hear just the guitar and a metronome or a drum track... check out my version here..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56VtjcBNP2s

just the guitar and ezdrummer...it's not perfect, and the guitar tone is not good... but i think is ok

Don't know what you guys are talking about...his guitar is pretty darn loud. Listen to the original song again and make the vocals the same volume they are in this video.
